I always believed that private sector development is crucial for the economic growth of a country. It creates employment and income opportunities for people, which will help reduce poverty. It can do things innovatively and efficiently, reaching the right people at the right time. In 2016, I joined Swisscontact Nepal to work with Sahaj Programme, which follows the Inclusive Markets approach. The approach of engaging women and marginal people in commercial agriculture through private sector has always been close to my heart and through Sahaj I could do what I believed in. When I am in the field talking to the beneficiaries, I can see the change; the power to make their own decisions about household income, education and health among the beneficiaries. Their smiles speak a thousand words. I am proud to see women and marginalised people actively engaging in commercial agriculture through our programme, and it motivates me to work harder and deliver better.
