I have been working in Swisscontact for more than seven years. My responsibility for strategic partnership has been a wonderful experience and I enjoy my work, as I have been meeting a lot of people from different cultures and professions. I helped with opening Swisscontact’s office in Colombia, but never imagined that after only three years, we would already generate important impacts. The knowledge and trust that we have received from senior management has been key for this success. Today, we are the reference for many public and private institutions in Colombia, and this makes me feel very proud. I have helped to build our reputation; we have shown new opportunities, and our beneficiaries are grateful and find our interventions useful. I have learned in the first two years working at Swisscontact, as much as in four years in any other institution. Swisscontact’s systemic approach has become increasingly important for our Colombian projects. At the beginning I had difficulty understanding it, but now I certainly do. Recently, in a family discussion, I told my daughter “I am not part of your solution; solve it by your own effort”. Therefore, I conclude that I apply this approach even in my daily life. It motivates me that our partners and beneficiaries trust in our work and approaches. Being strategic means to evaluate and quickly take the necessary decisions. The attributes “flexible” and “focused” characterise Swisscontact's strengths and make working here an enriching experience.
