I joined Swisscontact in June 1997, after first working experiences abroad in aquatic research in Siberia and in development cooperation in Ghana (West Africa).
Since I can remember, I have loved exploring – first plants and animals, later landscapes, cultures and people. My parents taught me that I share responsibility for the world that I am living in. Therefore, I perceive not only its beauty, but also the many existing injustices, and try to contribute to solutions.
My work at Swisscontact – as a trainee, technical consultant, project manager and regional director – has enabled me to contribute to making the world a fairer place and to pass on to future generations an environment that is worth living in.
I have countless memories of my work at Swisscontact and owe a lot to the organisation. I have learned such different things as: to tie the tie, the confident appearance at press conferences and fluent Spanish. I know Latin America almost better than Europe and met my future wife in Central America. I remember many insightful conversations with partners and beneficiaries – as well as the comment of an experienced colleague when I first left for Latin America: experience shows that young employees come back from Latin America married and with children. He was right – also in my case.
