I was engaged in household chores and some farm work. I didn't have any skills to undertake a job, and my house was damaged by the earthquake in 2015. I heard about mason trainings opportunities in Sindhuli on the local radio station. I considered it a good opportunity for employment. I participated in a 50-day mason training, supported by Swisscontact’s Skills for Safe Reconstruction Project (SSRP), from June to August 2017. After completion of training, I was skills tested and became certified by the National Skill Testing Board. It was one of the happiest days of my life. Soon, I began work as a mason with my other male colleagues in a nearby house. I am now recognised as a skilled mason and have a number of work opportunities. I have already constructed seven houses. I am very glad that I got this opportunity to live my life with a job and status. I inspire other women like me to grab this opportunity provided by SSRP and improve their livelihood and become economically independent.
