I still remember the job-ad as project management assistant I applied for 11 years ago. It seemed tailored to me and luckily enough I got the job. Two years later I moved to Uganda for my first field assignment as project manager of a market-oriented value chain project. I remember the lady I met in Kisoro, who, thanks to the project interventions, had started a successful mushroom farming business and was not only able to send her kids to school and to upgrade her house nicely but also to have a healthier diet for the whole family.
Back in Zurich some years later I headed the acquisition department before moving out again – this time to Morocco- with the challenging but successful task to open up a new Swisscontact office in the country. It has been three years since and I have recently been appointed as Regional Director North and West Africa.
I still very much believe in the market oriented and systemic way in which Swisscontact tries to lift people out of poverty and would like to thank the organisation for the opportunity given to me to move along this career path – and Happy Birthday!
